Saardé Care Guide

Saardé products are designed for the simple pleasures that make up a big beautiful life. They are well considered and well designed and, with a little bit of extra care, you can increase the longevity of the special items you have chosen, and minimise your impact on the environment.

Resin

Our resin products should be hand washed in warm water only. After washing resin may appear “frosted” and can be rubbed with a drop of food-safe oil to restore its natural sheen. All resin items are strong and durable but should be treated with care as they can break if dropped or knocked against a hard surface. It is not recommended to use our resin products for hot foods.

Olive Wood

Our olive wood products should be hand washed only. Avoid leaving olive wood sitting in water otherwise it can potentially crack.

We recommend occasionally rubbing a small amount of food safe oil such as olive or linseed oil onto the wood using a kitchen towel. This will keep the wood from drying out and will bring out the natural grain and colouring of the wood.

Cotton Towels + Robes

Our 100% cotton towels are machine washable up to 40°C/105°F and we recommend washing with similar colours. They can then be line or tumble dried on a low heat. Our towels need some TLC (tender laundry care) so to get the best out of your towels here are some tips:

  1. Soda Pop: Put ½ a cup of baking soda in the first wash to help your towels fibres relax and become more absorbent.

  2. Less is More: Too much detergent leaves soap residue on your towels leaving them stiff.

  3. Soften with Vinegar: Fabric softener contains silicon which makes your towels water repellant. Use good-old fashioned vinegar instead.

  4. Warm water: Wash your towels in 40°C water to make sure the soap residue fully dissolves.

Mango Wood

We recommend that you avoid using water to clean your mango wood, instead, just use a dry or slightly damp cloth to wipe it down.

With our candle holders be sure to never burn a candle completely to the holder, and dispose of the candle when it burns to within 1cm of the holder.

If necessary you can occasionally rub a small amount of food safe oil onto the wood using a kitchen towel. This will keep the wood from drying out.

Linen

All of our bedding + throws are machine washable up to 30°C and we recommend using a gentle cycle and washing them with similar colours. We also suggest avoiding bleach and fabric softeners, as they can strip the linen's beautiful natural fibres. Harsh chemicals can weaken the fibres of linen over time.

Our linen can be line or tumble dried on a low heat however, we recommend air drying on the line to increase the longevity of the linen.

Jute Rugs

Your new Jute rug can naturally shed fibres as a natural part of the wearing in process, so we advise regularly vacuuming with a non-rotating head attachment.
Do not use a powerful vacuum as this may damage the fibres and
always vacuum in the same direction of the weave.
Do not steam or soak the rug with water. Clean spills immediately by blotting them with a cloth.
Avoid exposure to direct sunlight and heat sources (gas heaters, fireplaces, etc.) as these can fade the colour and damage the natural fibres.
Rotate rug every six months for even wear.

Kairos Glassware

Our Kairos Glasses are carefully crafted from borosilicate glass. While borosilicate glass is known for its durability, it's not invincible. Avoid exposing the glass to extreme temperature changes and sudden impacts to prevent breakage.

They are dishwasher safe however we recommend avoiding strong alkali soaps or acids to clean them.

Moroccan Glassware

These glasses are hand crafted in Morocco from recycled bottles.

They are dishwasher safe.

We recommend that you avoid exposing the glass to extreme temperature changes and sudden impacts to prevent breakage.

Gorgeous variations of small bubbles, flecks & unevenness in the glass are to be expected. Perfectly imperfect...exactly what we adore about them.

Marble

Our marble products have been finished to ensure that the stone retains its natural beauty while increasing its durability. This leaves a satin, smooth finish which repels liquid and dirt. However, please be advised that all liquids including water should never be left to dry on marble, as they will damage the surface. In addition to this, avoid any contact with anything acidic or abrasive.

We recommend that regular cleaning of marble is as gentle as possible. Dust the surface regularly and gently wipe the surface with a damp cloth when needed.

Velvet Cushions

Our Velvet Cushions are crafted from 100% cotton. They have a zipper closure for easy removal of the insert should the cover require cleaning. We recommend only dry cleaning these delicate covers to preserve their beauty.

Do not bleach.
